As part of our ongoing dedication to provide you only with pure cosmetics, we at Replenish Plus feel a sincere obligation to keep you well-informed of the many dangerous ingredients commonly found in skin care products. Today we are exposing another shady secret of the beauty industry, phthalates – one of the most prevalent, and least necessary, toxins to ever disgrace our bodies and the planet.
Pure Cosmetics Do Not Contain Phthalates
Even though they are on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) watch list, phthalates continue to be used in lotions to create a soft film overtop the skin. However, even a quick look at the damage these toxins cause is enough to discontinue their use:
• A 2005 study from the University of Rochester identifies a Phthalate Syndrome which includes “malformations of epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate”, and undescended testicles.
• A recent study from the University of Rochester links behavioral changes in male children from anti-androgens found in phthalates.
• Liver, kidney and asthma-related problems have been reported as well.
• This damage has been proven to be caused while in utero.
o A study of pregnant women in China associated miscarriages with increased levels of phthalate exposure.
A Pervasive Problem
A study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found that 97% of 2,540 participants tested positive for raised phthalate exposure levels. While cosmetic companies maintain that phthalates are used at the lowest levels, watchdog groups correctly report that “although it may be low-level exposure, it is chronic low-level exposure.” Even though you are being introduced to small amounts, it adds up.
When it Comes to Phthalates, Don’t Risk It!
Your skin care products should boost your health and your appearance, not create a litany of pregnancy complications for you and your children. At Replenish Plus, we use only the healthiest of ingredients – our pure cosmetics contain absolutely no phthalates!
